For use when asking a Parent/ Guardian of a child Contributor to provide the Company with a Contribution whether that be an interview, a photo, other copyright materials or some other Contribution.

By signing this consent form the Parent/ Guardian of the child Contributor is giving their permission for their child’s Contribution to be used for the Project (as defined). The Contributor is not giving away its full legal rights in and to the Contribution (in law, this is called assigning). Instead, the Parent/ Guardian of the child Contributor is granting certain licensed rights to the Company in respect of the child’s Contribution. The Parent/ Guardian of the child Contributor shall retain copyright ownership.

Product Description

The Company should consider the following:

  • Has the Parent/ Guardian of the child Contributor fully understood the terms of this agreement, in particular the scope of the licensed rights granted in respect of the child’s Contribution?
  • How much (if anything) will you pay to the Parent/ Guardian of the child’s Contributor? and, has this been agreed in advance?
  • If an interview, do you know what the child Contributor is going to say? You may need to seek additional legal advice before broadcast etc if the content is likely to be controversial.
  • Is the child’s Contribution something that you are likely to use?
  • Think about the ‘term’ i.e. how long do you want the licence to run for? and, do you need it to be worldwide or restricted to certain territories?
  • If you need to ‘own’ the Contribution, you should have it legally assigned to you. See Contributor Consent, Release & Assignment Form (Child Contributor).
